Concept

Environmental health can involve highly complex policy issues with multiple causal factors. There can be a high level of disagreement about the nature of the problem as well as differences in opinions about the best way to address it. Some of the policy issues related to environmental health could be so complex and highly resistant to resolution that they are deemed to be "wicked" problems. Successful interventions often require coordinated efforts at all levels of government and the involvement of a spectrum of non-governmental stakeholders. Tackling wicked problems require inter-sectoral collaborations to effect stakeholder engagement toward the identification of possible solutions.

This webinar highlights some environmental health issues that can exemplify the nature of "wicked problems". Possible approaches to tackling the complex nature of the issues will be discussed.
