About this Event

Dr. Suzanne L Stewart is from the Yellowknife Dene First Nation and is Director of the Waakebiness-Bryce Institute for Indigenous Health at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health/University of Toronto. She holds the TCP Chair in Aboriginal Health and works in Indigenous health and mental health with urban organizations.

Dr. Stewart will address current issues of Covid-19 with urban Indigenous Peoples, such as: What happens to Indigenous peoples in cities when a pandemic hits? How can Indigenous and non-Indigenous organizations respond to the needs of the people in ways that are culturally based and safe? And how are the provincial and federal health and social service policies supporting Indigenous organizations. Examples from Dr. Stewart's current urban Covid-19 research will be shared. This webinar will be moderated by WBIIH Elder-in-residence Clayton Shirt.
