The DLSPH's Institute for Pandemics invites you to participate in the second-annual Vohra Miller Lectures in Critical Public Health Issues.

About this event

The Institute for Pandemics (IfP) at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto was formed in order to tackle some of the most pressing issues associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, and to understand how to prevent future pandemics. A central goal of the Institute for Pandemics is to address issues of health equity associated with pandemics. In the era of the COVID-19 pandemic, it has become apparent that there are stark racial inequities in the odds of testing positive for COVID-19, and of suffering the worst outcomes associated with the disease.

The Vohra Miller Lectures in Critical Public Health Issues in collaboration with the Institute for Pandemics aims to foster a dialogue and engage the public health and health system communities on significant issues facing the health of Canadians. In doing so, it positions the Dalla Lana School of Public Health as a hub of public health and health systems experts and thought leaders who are having a positive impact on health locally and globally.

Join the lecture and panel discussion that will foster a dialogue on health equity, as it relates to community advocacy, community engagement and community-level work. From targeting community-based and engaged perspectives to work with visible minority and socioeconomic groups, the discussion will emphasize the importance of tackling inequities in healthcare amongst other issues.
