Dr. Alyssa Ness
Doctor Ness is a public health and preventive medicine specialist and family physician based in Calgary. As a Medical Officer of Health in Central Zone, her particular focus in Environmental Public Health and Health Promotion. She enjoys teaching undergraduate medical students about population and public health topics and introducing them to the specialty early in their training. Dr. Ness also provides locum coverage at East Calgary Family Care Clinic.
Prior to public health residency, Dr. Ness completed her Bachelor of Nursing degree, with Distinction, at the University of Calgary. She worked as a registered nurse in vascular surgery and with The Alex Pathways to Housing program before completing medical school and the initial years of general surgery training at the University of Alberta. In life outside of medicine, Dr. Ness enjoys writing, weightlifting, and quality time with her husband and daughter.
