How will Artificial Intelligence affect the work of Canada's family doctors?

About this event

Join us in our six-part monthly webinar series that will help develop your understanding of AI, the ways it is already being used in practice, and the potential of AI and other technologies to change the ways we learn, work and care for our patients.

Hosted by Dr. Andrew Pinto, Director of Upstream Lab and DEEP Network, and presented in partnership with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC), this webinar series features leaders in our discipline in Canada with expertise in machine learning, natural language processing, ethics, and AI research.

In this final webinar, we will discuss the social and ethical concerns with AI and Primary Care. This session will feature Dr. Melissa McCradden, bioethicist with the Department of Bioethics at the Hospital for Sick Children with expertise in AI in Healthcare, Dr. Carolyn Steele-Gray, scientist at Bridgepoint Collaboratory Research and Innovation at the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute and AMS Healthcare Fellow in Compassion and AI and Digital Health, and Dr. Azza Eissa, a family medicine clinician scholar focused on equity and improving care for historically disadvantaged populations.

In this session we will:

1) Describe the anticipated impact of AI tools on the practice of family medicine, particularly on clinical decision making

2) Discuss how to engage your team, organization, patients and vendors regarding fit, performance, differential impact and bias inherent to AI tools

3) Describe the key concerns for historically disadvantaged populations including data ownership, data governance, and privacy considerations.

This group learning activity has been certified by the CFPC for one Mainpro+ credit per session. Webinars will be available in English only.
