Canadian Academy of Health Sciences - Racism in Healthcare

The Canadian Academy of Health Sciences (CAHS) is holding a webinar designed to scope out challenges associated with racism in health care and efforts to deal with this systemic problem. CAHS wishes to start a dialogue.  Far from the idea to reinvent the wheel – CAHS would rather facilitate discussions amongst stakeholders, enable the sharing of best practices, and identify key gaps.

This webinar will feature experts who will provide their thoughts on the issue:

  • Dr. Janet Smylie, Dr. Janet Smylie, Research Scientist, Centre for Urban Health Solutions. Director, Well Living House Action Research Centre for Indigenous Infant Child and Family Health and Wellbeing, St. Michael’s Hospital. Professor, Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto. Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Indigenous Health
  • Dr. Cheryl Ward, Former Executive Director of Indigenous Health at PHSA and developer of the San’yas Indigenous Cultural Safety Training Program
  • Dr. Javeed Sukhera, Assoc. Professor, Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Western University
  • Dr. Arno Kumagai, Vice-Chair, Education, Department of Medicine, University of Toronto

Please join us virtually on October 14, 2021 from 1:00 – 3:30 pm EDT.

Registration is free of charge and can be found here.
