This webinar will discuss certification in infection, prevention and control (IPAC) by reviewing the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC)’s recent market research study to determine the perceived value of IPAC certification among IPAC professionals and other stakeholders.
After introducing the CBIC, results of the CBIC study in thematic categories identified by those surveyed will be examined. The pathways CBIC is creating to support certification will also be discussed.

Sandra Callery, RN, MHSc, CIC, currently is the President-elect for the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC) and is presenting the session in this capacity. Sandra has worked in the field of Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) for many years and held leadership positions at small community hospitals, large academic centres and long term care settings. Her current position is Senior Advisor to the Health Protection Department at the Ontario Agency of Health Protection and Promotion (known as “Public Health Ontario”). She is an Assistant Clinical Professor at McMaster University’s Faculty of Health Sciences and instructor for IPAC courses through Centennial College and Queens University. She is on the editorial board for the Canadian Journal of Infection Control (CJIC). Sandra is a former IPAC Canada President.
