An Evaluation of One Health Surveillance of Antimicrobial Resistance: Have We Moved the Needle?

About this event

Synopsis

In 2019-2020 Drs. Simon Otto and Lynora Saxinger conducted a review of AMR surveillance programs in Canada. Supported by the National Collaborating Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCCID), the project aim was to document how and where there has been progress towards One Health integrated AMR surveillance in the country. The research team used past reviews of AMR surveillance in human health (2014) and animal health (2016) as the starting points. To assess progress across a complex, messy set of programs, the team developed a novel evaluation tool that allowed for both granularity and transparency in their methods. In this webinar, Dr. Simon Otto (University of Alberta) and Margaret Haworth-Brockman (NCCID) will present the results of the evaluation of integrated One Health AMR surveillance in Canada and describe the novel assessment tool.

Speakers:

Dr. Simon Otto, Assistant Professor, School of Public Health, University of Alberta;

Margaret Haworth-Brockman, Senior Program Manager, National Collaborating Centre for Infectious Diseases.
