The impact of cannabis legalization on cannabis and alcohol use in Ontario

This webinar is hosted by the Cannabis Knowledge Exchange Hub at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). The Hub works to facilitate stakeholder access to and use of evidence across the province, sectors, and continuum of care.

In this webinar, Dr. Tara Elton-Marshall will present results from a CIHR and CCSA funded grant examining the impacts of cannabis legalization on cannabis consumption and cannabis-related harms among adults in Ontario. Dr. Sameer Imtiaz will present results from a CCSA funded project examining the impacts of cannabis legalization on alcohol consumption and alcohol-related harms among adults in Ontario.

Learning objectives

By the end of this webinar you will be able to:

1. Examine the impacts of recreational cannabis legalization on cannabis consumption and cannabis-related harms among adults in Ontario, including cannabis use, daily cannabis use and cannabis-related problems.
2. Examine the impacts of recreational cannabis legalization on alcohol consumption and alcohol-related harms among adults in Ontario, including binge drinking, hazardous drinking, concurrent alcohol and cannabis use and simultaneous alcohol and cannabis use.
3. Discuss implications of these findings for policy and practice.
