CVPD Fall Symposium: Healthy Aging and Immunization (In-Person Event)

  • 16 Sep 2022
  • 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM
  • In-Person Event

The University of Toronto’s Centre for Vaccine Preventable Diseases (CVPD) at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health is hosting the CVPD Fall Symposium: Healthy Aging and Immunization on Friday, September 16, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. EDT.

The event will be held in a hybrid format: participants can attend in-person at the Faculty Club or join virtually. Following presentations and a panel session, a trainee poster session will take place and lunch will be provided to in-person participants.

After active participation in the symposium, learners will be able to:

  • Discuss different strategies and interventions to improve vaccination in older adults
  • Critically reflect on equity gaps in their research and practice
  • Examine a point of influence where their research or practice can support advocacy for healthy aging via immunization in older adults
  • Identify methods to improve communication about vaccination between health care providers and the public

Following this symposium, we will be holding an in-person trainee session focused on PhD students on soft skills and career paths for graduate students. This session is funded by Merck Canada. Registration for the afternoon event can be found here.

To facilitate a safer meeting environment, we have taken the following steps:

  • Chosen an event space that allows social distancing and has good air-flow
  • Arranged for an outdoor, all-weather space for eating

We request that participants please:

  • Wear medical-grade masks during the event, except when eating
  • Join us remotely rather than in-person if you are feeling unwell (we will do our best to facilitate switching from in-person to online registration, as needed)

Further event details will be released by email and on the Centre for Vaccine Preventable Diseases’ website in the coming weeks.
