SESSION DESCRIPTION:

In this session we will explore the concepts of equity, inclusion, diversity, and justice as they apply to research with people who are often excluded. We will reflect on our own identities and privilege with consideration of how privilege and marginalization can impact our research relationships and methods. We will discuss inclusive supports and strategies to promote equitable engagement in research.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

• Define and describe equity, inclusion, diversity and justice and apply these concepts in family engagement in research.
• Examine aspects of identity that afford team members more/less privilege and power when engaging in research.
• Be prepared to develop inclusive supports, strategies, and recommendations to promote equitable engagement in research.
