This event will take place in English, with closed-captioning in English and simultaneous French interpretation.
This webinar is part of a series co-developed by the National Collaborating Centre for Determinants of Health (NCCDH) and Health Promotion Canada (HPC) based on content from the book entitled “Promoting the Health of Older Adults: the Canadian Experience” (PHOA).
This fifth webinar in the series will reinforce the importance of reorienting health services for older adults to promote health equity, address the social determinants of health, and shift from an illness to a wellness approach. The roles of public and community health, primary health care, and social services will be explored, including how health and social services intersect to create conditions essential for the health of older adults. Examples of community-based and collaborative initiatives that reinforce a holistic view of health will be shared.
This webinar will be of interest to practitioners, educators, policymakers, academics, researchers and organizations working in aging.
It will also benefit advocates for older persons in health promotion, public health, gerontology and community development, as well as in related fields such as nursing and social work.
